Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

What does Meaningful Metrics do?

Meaningful Metrics provides neuroaffirming consultation and integrated services that align home, school, and community. Our multidisciplinary team includes Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), educators, speech-language pathologists, and related service professionals.

Where are services offered?
We provide in-person support for Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk County, New York. We offer telehealth services for families and professionals nationally. Please inquire for specifics to your state's requirements so we can help pair you with the appropriately licensed providers.

What does “neuroaffirming” mean?
Neuroaffirming practice recognizes neurological differences as part of human diversity. Instead of focusing on “fixing”, we focus on understanding communication, honoring autonomy, and building supports that respect each learner’s individuality, independence and dignity.

How do you describe and address support needs?

We support learners across profiles and support needs (e.g. gifted and twice-exceptional (2e), autistic and/or ADHD, AAC users, and students with high or complex support needs). We avoid “functioning” labels (like “high/low-functioning”) and instead focus on what helps your child access learning and daily life: communication, sensory and regulation supports, executive functioning routines, and environmental adaptations. Plans are individualized and dignity-first, and we coordinate with your school and/or other providers as appropriate to align supports.

For Families

Do you accept insurance?
At this time, Meaningful Metrics operates as a private-pay practice. This allows us to design flexible, individualized supports without the restrictions of insurance billing codes. We are happy to provide itemized documentation for families seeking reimbursement for out-of-network providers or using self-directed budgets by working directly with the client.

How do we get started?
You can request a consultation directly through our website. We’ll schedule an initial call to discuss your family’s goals, current needs, and service options. From there, we create a plan that fits your needs and schedule.

What ages do you serve?
We serve children, adolescents and young adults. Depending on the service type, we also offer support for young adults during transition planning and vocational readiness.

Do you work directly with schools?
Yes! We collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and administrators to ensure that school supports align with your child’s plan.

Can you attend IEP, 504, and collaborative meetings with schools?
Yes! Our consultants can attend meetings in person or virtually to provide advocacy, clarify goals, and help ensure your child’s strengths and needs are clearly represented.

Do you offer parent training or coaching?
Absolutely. Parent and caregiver coaching is one of our most requested services. We teach practical strategies that fit your family’s routines and promote long-term success.

For Schools and Districts

What does a school or district partnershipa include?

Yes! We provide supervision that aligns with BACB requirements and emphasizes ethical, evidence-based practice. Supervision can be individual or group-based, in person or via telehealth.

Yes! We offer consultation and mentorship via telehealth for professionals in other states, provided services are consultative in nature and comply with state licensure regulations.

About Our Services

What kinds of assessments do you conduct?
Our team provides Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), classroom observations, data system reviews, and collaborative analyses of student progress. We also offer communication assessments in coordination with speech-language specialists.

What is the difference between consultation and direct services?
Consultation involves collaboration, coaching, and systems planning with caregivers, educators, or administrators. Direct services involve hands-on support for learners delivered by BCBAs, BCaBAs, or Special Educators under supervision.

Do you offer telehealth?
Yes! Many of our services, including parent coaching, supervision, and professional consultation, can be provided through secure virtual sessions.

What if we already have a BCBA or school team?
We often work alongside existing professionals, as each BCBA can bring their unique areas of expertise to the table. Our role is to complement your current supports by providing additional expertise, coordination, or data-based insights.
